Our Story
Dakota in Bloom began with a simple love for growing flowers.
Years ago, Brianne planted her first flowers, experimenting with varieties ranging from zinnias to dahlias. While each flower had its own beauty, peonies quickly stood apart.
“There was just something about them.”
From their incredible size to their vibrant colors and unmistakable presence, peonies became the flower she couldn’t stop growing.
What began as a vegetable and flower garden eventually evolved into something larger. Through operating The Flower Bar and working closely with customers throughout North Dakota, Brianne saw an opportunity to provide locally grown peonies on a larger scale.
Today, Dakota in Bloom is home to over 1,400 mature peony plants and produces thousands of stems each season.
Located in Rolette County, North Dakota, the farm experiences long winters and warm summers that help produce strong plants and exceptional blooms.
Every stem represents years of planning, care, and patience. Peonies are not a crop that can be rushed. A plant may take several years to reach full production, making each harvest the result of countless hours invested long before the first flower opens

Why North Dakota?
Most people don’t immediately think of North Dakota when they think of flowers. But perhaps they should. The same northern climate that produces strong crops and resilient agriculture also creates excellent conditions for growing peonies. Long winters provide the chilling period peonies require, while warm summer days help produce healthy plants and vibrant blooms. Located in Rolette, ND, Dakota in Bloom grows peonies on the northern prairie where open skies, rich soil, and changing seasons shape every harvest. Our flowers experience everything North Dakota has to offer: cold winters, spring rains, summer sunshine, and the occasional challenge that comes with farming in the Upper Midwest. That connection to the land matters. We believe flowers should have a story. Ours begins in North Dakota fields, where each bloom is grown, harvested, and prepared with care before making its way to florists, event designers, and homes throughout the region. From prairie roots to beautiful blooms, every stem reflects the place it came from.
